The Belco Party is an independent, grassroots party for the ordinary citizens and battlers of our community. In 2024 we are in Belconnen, Gungahlin and Hall. We think our elected members should provide basic, sensible and non-ideological representation for Canberrans. We want to improve the quality of life in the neglected outer suburbs of Canberra.
The Belco Party promises to ensure a future ACT government:
Scraps Stage 2B of the light rail from Civic to Woden, and reallocate the $4-$10 billion saved to our hospitals and health system, police, and municpal services (grasscutting, roads, footpaths etc.)
Bring back ACT Parks and Gardens to tidy up our suburbs
Provide free public transport
Hires the additional 500 (250 initially) additional police we need
Improve housing affordability with a firs home buyers scheme
Invest in local sporting facilities and maintain our ovals
Fix our roads and footpaths
Reviews the criminal justice system, toughens sentencing practices and overturns the Greens’ increasing the age of criminal responsibility from 12 to 14
Builds the Chic Henry International Motorsport and Driver training facility
Conducts an independent review into the kangaroo cull, strengthens animal cruelty laws and fast tracks a new RSPCA shelter
Opposes the proposed development of a suburban-sized solar factory less than 1km north of Dunlop and Macgregor
