Jason Taylor -Co-Convenyor Belco Party - Candidate for Yerrabi
My name is Jason Taylor.
I grew up and studied in Melbourne. Upon completion of university in 2007 I moved to Canberra to undertake recruit training with the Australian Federal Police. I have been in Canberra ever since!
I spent nearly 14 years with the AFP, most of this time was spent with ACT Policing; reaching the rank of Detective Sergeant. I worked across a number of areas of ACT Policing including General Duties, Criminal Investigations, Family Violence and Legislation and Policy.
During my career with the AFP I developed a real sense of community pride and passion for helping people. Despite my career ending prematurely due to a violent workplace assault and subsequent PTSD diagnosis meaning I could no longer do the job I loved, I have never lost my drive to make my community a better and safer place. So I joined the Belco Party and decided to run as a candidate in the upcoming 2024 ACT election for the electorate of Yerrabi.
As well as policing and law and order matters I am also passionate about mental health issues, addressing the rates of Family Violence in meaningful ways, and addressing the perilous state of the ACT’s Health and Education systems. And of course, local issues “good old rates roads and rubbish”.
As a resident of Yerrabi for over 13 years I have seen firsthand the issues that impact upon residents of this electorate, the things that really matter. Unfortunately, Yerrabi has been the neglected electorate for far too long under this government, the state of our roads and the grass jungles our green spaces and verges have become is testament to that. Although given that we don’t have a Minister in Cabinet representing the good people of this electorate, I am not surprised. The people of Yerrabi deserve better. A Government that places ideology above the best interests of the community, is not a good Government. Canberrans are sensible people, and they deserve sensible people representing them in the Legislative Assembly. That is what I will bring to the Chamber if elected. In me, Yerrabi has a man who has spent his life protecting the community. Let me protect you and your family as a member of the Assembly and help “Keep the Bastards Honest!”.

Bill Stefaniak - Co-Convenyor Belco Party - Candidate for Ginninderra
Bill Stefaniak was born in the old Canberra hospital like his two (2) colleagues also running for the Belco Party. In Ginninderra, Alan Tutt and Angela Lount making them the only party candidates running on the same ticket wo were all born and bred in Canberra.
Bill went to Griffith Infants, Red Hill Primary an Narrabundah High before doing Arts/Law at ANU. He practiced law as solicitor and crown prosecutor and was a member of the first Assembly (1989-1992) being he only Canberra born member elected. He served in subsequent Assemblies from 1994 to 2008 in government and opposition had has been Attorney General, Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Education and Training, Housing Children Youth and Family Services, Sport Recreation and Racing. He was also Opposition leader before leaving the Assembly to become the inaugural Appeal President of the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal then serving thee (3) years on the AAT as a Senior Member in Sydney before returning to Canberra to look after his beloved wife Shirley who sadly passed away after a valiant fight against cancer in October 2022. He was also a Major in the ARES and has taught at the CIT.
He has a proven track record as a Minister and was a popular and competent local member or Ginninderra from 1994 to 2008. He is remembered for tightening up the Bail Act which saw the burglary rate drop 50% in six (6) months, reforming the Crimes ACT to make it easier for Police to charge Criminals as well as introducing improvements in our electorate such as building the Belconnen Pool (CISAC), revitalising public hosing in NW Belconnen introducing literacy and numeracy testing and compulsory sport and PE in our schools, and paving the streets of Hall amongst other things. Unlike the current government members he showed himself quite capable of ensuring footpaths were looked after and the grass was regularly owed.
Bill is hot o trot again and if elected will be the only non government member with ministerial experience.
Bill is a widower and has 4 children now as his youngest son Joe was killed in a tragic car accident in 2018. He still plays veterans rugby.

Alan Tutt - Candidate for Ginninderra
I was born and raised in Canberra and have run a small business for 30+ years in Belconnen. I have seen much growth in Canberra during this time and in recent years have been so disappointed in the neglect of the Belconnen Area.
Let’s make a change, let me be your voice!

Angela Lount - Candidate for Ginninderra
Born, bred and lived in Canberra all my life on the north side, I was always a labor voter up until the 2020 election when I decided to run with the Belco Party. I have continued the fight with the Belco Party even without a member of our party having a representative in the Assembly with a number of important issues that matter to the community, trying to make a difference.
As a mother of four (4), a grandmother of five (5) and a person who has always been a community minded person I am sad to see so many that are suffering including my only family during these difficult times and there does not seem to be anyone listening or willing to do anything about it.
This is why I am putting my hand up once again to run with the Belco Party, an independent group of individuals that I believe care about the community and the local issues that really matter.
I do not claim or promise that I can fix all the current issues that we are currently facing, however I can promise to be a voice for the people, to question and keep the government that is in power in check. This is my promise to you.

Greg Burke - Candidate for Yerrabi
As a former jockey, family man and a resident of Ngunnawal for 25 years I am standing as a candidate in Yerrabi for the Belco Party. I’ve worked in the hospitality sector and in different roles within the racing industry. I currently have a successful Jockey Management business and I sponsor racing in Canberra and the Queanbeyan regions. My passion is a viable progressive racing industry in Canberra and the Queanbeyan regions, which the ACT Greens want to destroy.
I’ve seen first hand the issues that impact the electorate that matter to them, the cost of living, law and order, basic maintenance of suburban infrastructure eg. Roads, pot holes, grass cutting and energy pricing increases and this is why I am standing as a change is required.
I grew up and was educated in Cessnock. In the late 80’s I saw an opportunity to move to Canberra, the current Labor/Green government have been in power for 23 years! I ask you, is that good for democracy. I’ll listen, so let’s talk.
At the ACT election in October, trust those who will always have your back.
For a fair go vote Belco
